Task 2 - Designing the Suite

Task 2 - Designing the Suite

In the begging of my ident the sun is out and the CBBC slowly comes down into it hits the middle of the page, once it hits the middle it then bounces up down goes down back down, after all the letters begin to do  360

In the begin of this ident there is trampoline in a garden The CBBC letters then continuously jump up and down into the end up into they are in the sky and then The CBBC anthem plays.

This was the ident i ended up using The CBBC letters in the ident are stuck in a wave, then a surfer comes along hits towards each other into they are all together and in the right order

Task 3 - Pre-production Planning

Proposal
Prepared by: Samuel Aworinde

  • I was asked to create an Tv ident for CBBC or cbeebies I decide to do my TV ident on CBBC.
  • I have chosen CBBC as the the channel ident im going to create because my ident will be child friendly and would appeal to my target audience, children.
  • My theme of idents is Surthboarding   and I will use small characters And the CBBC letters which will be made out of "Play-Doh".
  • For movement I shall be using stop motion animation as I believe this contributes to the desired effect I need to achieve.
  • A surther will be going around putting all of the out of ordered letters in CBBC in order.

AS2 - Task 1 Ideas Generation

Task One – Ideas Generation

My mind map has for different ideas for idents the first one is based on Animals, with the animal ident you can use; zebras running, hippos having a pool party, Birds flying, sheep in the christmas ident and dogs having a snowball fight this i s also for a christmas themed ident.

Another theme i came up with was the special occasions such as the Olympics all the idents could be different just like the the different event that go in the olympics; Swimming, receiving medals

AS1 Task 3 - Understanding the design of a suite of television idents

Understanding the design of a suite of television idents

When and ident is crated for a channel they do not just create one nut they create many with a lot similarities  to the first ident this is because their be multiple versions of the channel for different audiences.

All suits  are very similar and they will always use something that stands out to keep the idents similar. Cannel four uses the 4 to keep there idents similar this is a good way to keep the suit because the for stands out a lot.

Different types of idents are good because they allow good amount variety for the audience if the the ident is always the same then no body will like them because they will easily get boring, because they are always playing it.

Keeping the theme of the ident the same helps to keep brand loyalty because the audience will be able to know that it is an channel connected to original channel they where watching.

Having many idents allows a channel to be able to use the right ident at any point to fit what happening next. For example there may be a an ident that plays when a particular program beginnings this is good because the audience can no what to expect when they see that ident. Furthermore it makes everything more flexible because the channel does not have to keep using the same ident at every advertisement break. Also a variation of the length  of n ident is good incase the needs to be an delay, the longer ident can allow this with out the audience realising that the ident is longer than normal because of an ident
An Ident is always created at christmas time for many channels this is done to keep the christmas sprit up and because most channels play christmas themed shows during the christmas period this also make the idents more relevant to what is being showed.

Unit 32 Task 2 - Understanding the limitations of the television ident

Understanding the purpose of television idents and the opportunities they present

Typography

Typography Is an font or style but it keeps to the same style the reason for this is so the audience can tell.
  • Typography (e.g. having to use a particular font for image or clarity)  This is good because it builds brand loyalty because your viewers will remember your ident because you keep it similar. But the downside to this is that your idents can become dual and boring if the y are the same and you can't be to creative when creating a new ident also because you won't all of the idents to be similar
  • Colour (e.g. specific colours for a specific channel, programme, department or to ensure visibility) The colour of your ident is important because it can help audiences to recognise your brand e.g. Channel four use a purple number 4 and there viewers kno when they see that four it is the ident.
  • Aspect-ratio (the dimensions required to fit the screen)
  • Adhering to a desired tone.
  • Duration The duration of an ident is important because you need to be prepared for any setbacks for example you are scheduled 4:30 and the adverts playing was not long enough you can use your ident for the remaining amount of time needed before the next program starts.

AS1 Task 1 Understanding the purpose of television idents and the opportunities they present

Understanding the limitations of the television ident

Typography is when a channel keeps an ident the same font for an image this is done so brand loyalty can continue. When an old viewer of an a particular station and then finds another version of the station they are more they may not realise that it the same station but a little bit different, they won't realise but if the ident is very similar the viewer will fill more inclined to watch it because they liked the first staion they watched. That is brand loyalty.

The Channel i'm working ident i'm covering is BBC. The purpose of a ident is to allow the audience to know what is happening, e.g. when the audience see an ident they know that its a time for the commercial or that is going to be a short break.

Different Idents are used in different channels even though are technically from e.g. BBC 1 has a different ident to cbeebies even though the are both form the same cooperation.

Keeping idents the same is important for brand loyalty if the audience does not recognise the ident they may not choose to kep watching the station because they believe they are familiar with the particular station because of how different the ident may be. so it is important to keep idents the same.

Depending on the content that is being produced on a particular station you should change the ident to match so the audience will always know what s going. e.g. if the its BBC sport the the BBS News ident appears it would be confusing to the audience so it is best to just keep the idents relevant.

It is important to make sure each ident meats its target audience e.g. CBBC and Cbeebies Idents are more suitable for children in comparison to BBC 1 & BBC News which is less childish and you can tell its for those that are more mature age.

Idents can be used as a marketing opportunity because a separate company can ask you to create a ident that can promote their company which can help boost the money coming to the the station. Furthermore through idents you ca promote your own shows and upcoming new shows and let your audience know that this new show is going o be showing and at what time they will be able to view it.

Packaging or re-packaging a series or program can be done through idents by showing new shows in the idents. And if the station would like to change when a program is shown they can change it. through the ident which is good because it will be able to get to a lot of your audience because most likely they are watching TV instead of being in your website looking for TV shows screening times
